Android Tv New Update
Google is rolling out a new update for Android TV, giving the Smart TV OS a whole new look-almost the same UI as the Google TV software on the company’s latest Chromecast. The new interface refreshes the appearance of Android TV to make it more in line with the requirements of Google TV. At the top of the menu, a carousel for scrolling and displaying featured content has been added, and the oversized icon has been removed to display more simple labels.
In other words, there are some differences between the user interface on Chromecast’s Google TV and the updated Android TV. The new Android TV menu has three main tabs: homepage, for quick access to apps and channels; apps, as a dedicated place to find apps; and a new “discover” tab, which will provide information about TV shows and movies Personalized recommendations, and popular content from Google-similar to the “For You” tab on Google TV.
Instead, Google TV UI uses the aforementioned “For You” tab as the main screen and then divides specific content into dedicated programs, movies, and real-time tabs instead of collecting them all in one place. It also makes it easier to access purchased content through the library tab that Android TV lacks. However, it is still a beautiful update, and it helps to make Google’s different smart TV platforms more consistent-even at this point, it’s still confusing that Google TV and Android TV are still separate products with different interfaces. (Google still plans to provide Google TV on updated smart TVs in the future.)
The updated Android TV user interface will be rolled out on Android TV OS devices in the United States, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France starting today, and promises to be used in more countries in the coming weeks.
